Vedanta Ltd. said its Chief Financial Officer Sonal Shrivastava resigned due to personal reasons and the company rehired Ajay Goel as her successor.

The resignation of Shrivastava is effective from close of business hours today (24 October), the Indian natural resources conglomerate said in a stock exchange announcement.

Shrivastava’s resignation comes in less than six months after her appointment to the position in June and amid the group's plan to demerge its business units into independent companies to unlock value and attract investment for expansion of each business.

The Indian arm of UK-based Vedanta Resources said its board approved the appointment of Goel as CFO with effect from 30 October. He joins back the company as part of Vedanta’s structured re-hiring program called ‘Gharwapsi’, it added.

Goel was earlier associated with Vedanta as acting CFO from 23 October 2021 to 9 April 2023, and he contributed significantly in terms of driving business performance and managing the financial affairs of the company, according to the statement.

Vedanta said Goel, who had left Vedanta to join the edtech startup Byju’s as CFO, is a national rank holder both as a chartered accountant and company secretary. He comes with rich experience in global multinational companies such as General Electric, Nestle, Coca Cola and Diageo – USL in various leadership roles, it added.
