Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS) said its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Rajesh Gopinathan resigned to pursue other interests.

Gopinathan, who spent over 22 years with TCS and had a successful stint as MD & CEO in the last six years, will continue with the company until 15 September to provide transition and support to his successor, India’s largest IT services provider said in a stock exchange announcement.

TCS said its board appointed K. Krithivasan as the company’s CEO designate with effect from today. He will take over as MD & CEO of the company in the next financial year, subject to approval of shareholders, it added.

Krithivasan is currently the president and global head of the banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) business group at TCS, according to the statement.

TCS said Krithivasan has been part of the global technology sector for over 34 years, having joined the company in 1989, and has held various leadership roles in delivery, customer relationship management, large program management and sales during his tenure.

Krithivasan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras and a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from IIT Kanpur, it added.
