Tata Electronics Appoints Randhir Thakur As MD & CEO

Tata Electronics Private Ltd. appointed semiconductor industry veteran Randhir Thakur as the managing director and chief executive officer of the company.

Thakur, an electronics and telecommunications engineer, has more than four decades of experience in global manufacturing, research and development, Tata Electronics said in a statement. Before joining the Tata Group, he was part of Intel Foundry Services as its president, it added.

Thakur’s in-depth knowledge and multi-functional experience will bode well for Tata Electronics, a greenfield venture of the Tata Group with expertise in manufacturing precision components, Tata Sons’ Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said.

Thakur, who holds more than 300 patents in the semiconductor field, has made significant contributions to the development of advanced semiconductor technologies, according to the statement.

Tata Electronics said Thakur has previously held leadership and technical positions at Applied Materials Inc., SanDisk Corp., STEAG Electronic Systems and Micron Technology Inc.
