India’s largest stock exchange National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. (NSE India) appointed Amber Gupta as senior vice president and head of legal.

Before joining NSE India, Gupta served as the head of corporate legal, company secretary and compliance officer at Aditya Birla Capital Ltd.

Gupta, who has about 25 years’ experience, previously also worked with Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, Aditya Birla Money, JP Morgan India, Yes Bank Ltd., Reliance Capital Ltd. and Sahara India Financial Corporation Ltd.

Gupta specializes in financial services legislation, with extensive experience in insurance, securities & capital markets, SEBI laws, broking and mutual funds, banking and non-banking finance, IT and cyber laws, IPR, e-commerce, commercial contracts, arbitration and litigation and corporate laws and practice, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He is also a member of the Institute of the Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).

The development comes as several companies in the capital markets, banking, and finance are expanding their legal and compliance teams to better adapt to the constantly changing regulations.

Recently, listed brokerage and trading platform Angel One Ltd. appointed Meenal Maheshwari Shah as the group general counsel.
