Indian IT services provider Infosys Ltd.'s President Mohit Joshi resigned to join the company’s competitor Tech Mahindra Ltd. (TechM) as its managing director and chief executive officer in December.

Joshi will be on leave from 11 March and his last date with Infosys will be 9 June, the Bengaluru-based firm said in a stock exchange announcement. The company didn’t disclose the reasons for his resignation.

Meanwhile, TechM said it appointed Joshi as the MD & CEO designate of the company.

Joshi will take over as MD & CEO when C.P. Gurnani retires on 19 December, it added, noting that he will join the company well before that date to allow for sufficient transition time.

TechM said the appointment of Joshi will be for five years with effect from 20 December, subject to approval of the shareholders.

Joshi has over two decades of experience in the enterprise technology software & consulting space and has worked with the largest corporations, according to the statement.

At Infosys, he is head of the global financial services & healthcare and the software businesses, which includes the banking platform Finacle and the artificial intelligence/automation portfolio, it said.
