Indian stockbroker Angel One Ltd. appointed Meenal Maheshwari Shah as group general counsel.
Most recently, she served as group legal director and data protection officer at Singapore-based data protection firm LemmaTree, the Mumbai-based brokerage and trading platform said in a statement.
Maheshwari, an alumnus of Pune's ILS Law College from the 2010 batch, started her career with the law firm Khaitan & Co. as an associate. Subsequently, she also joined the chambers of Snehal Shah as counsel.
Maheshwari has also worked with the private equity investment arm of Bennett, Coleman & Company Ltd., Brand Capital India as senior legal counsel. In August 2018, she joined Essar Group as lead legal counsel for global transactions, contracts & privacy practice.
Angel One Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Thakkar said Maheshwari’s addition to its team signifies a strategic move to fortify the group’s legal capabilities and uphold the highest standards of compliance.
“With her extensive leadership in the legal field, we are confident that Meenal will play a pivotal role in navigating the intricacies of the evolving regulatory landscape,” he added.
Angel One, listed on the stock exchanges, is one of India’s leading retail full-service broking houses with over two crore clients, according to its website. The company offers a wide range of services, including online trading and investing, advisory, margin trading facility, algorithmic trading and smart orders, it said.
