Ajay Chitkara To Board Ecom Express As MD & CEO

Ajay Chitkara, chief executive officer of Bharti Airtel's enterprise arm Airtel Business, is set to join Ecom Express Ltd. as its managing director and chief executive officer.

Chitkara, who has resigned at Airtel Business, will assume the responsibilities at the logistics solutions provider from 1 September, according to a statement. He will report to the board of directors of the company.

Ecom Express Chairperson V. Anantharaman said Chitkara comes with an extensive enterprise experience from Airtel, where he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic capabilities.

The board is looking forward to Chitkara scaling Ecom Express further and delivering long-term value for all its stakeholders, he added.

Ecom Express, which offers end-to-end technology-enabled logistics solutions to e-commerce industry, is backed by private equity investors Partners Group, Warburg Pincus and British International Investment, according to the statement.

The company has presence across the country, and it operates in more than 2,700 towns, covering over 95% of India's population, it said.
